CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: yoshiya "joshua" kiryu
Canon: the world ends with you
Canon point: post-game
Age: unknown; but he looks to be a teenager
History:
boom
Personality:
Let's get this out of the way: Joshua is anything but normal. Just by his title of Composer, it singles him out from a normal human. As if his personality didn't do that in the first place. Still, most people only see the personality side, as he isn't and won't be waving his status around (even though he had reasons to not say anything in the game). He gets bored pretty easily, and the things that do entertain him are pretty odd. Making the bet against Megumi, for instance -- or keeping Minamimoto around despite the fact that he was causing trouble.
He knows how to get under someone's skin. Joshua has an uncanny ability to find what upsets people, and if he feels like it he won't hesitate to pick at this weakness to get a reaction out of someone. It's how he treats most people in the game -- Neku especially, for instance -- and he enraged a few Reapers as well. One of which was Minamimoto; even though he was keeping him around, he still was insanely cocky and confident while dealing with him. Mr. H seems to be the only person that he didn't make angry throughout the game, in fact, they seemed to be rather close.
Also, he's pretty manipulative and sneaky. Not only did he put Neku in the game for his own ends in the first place, but he does things on a smaller scale as well. Such as when he swapped the pins out so that another player could win, and therefore, complete the mission for the day. Neku hadn't even realized that he did it. He did it to further prove his point -- that Neku didn't have to do it all. It's not necessarily to further his own end with stuff like this; it's to prove a point. Even destroying Shibuya was to prove a point. There's not much he would've gained by doing so, but he still made that bet with Megumi. He also made up his own backstory to make it more believable for Neku, and took it one step further when Mr. H confirmed it.
Joshua is laid-back to the point where it seems lazy. Even when Neku was getting irritated with him, he would just shrug it off like it was nothing. Some of the only times he was shown as being irritated was when he was on the phone, waiting for Neku to wake up and getting told bad news. He also seemed kind of frustrated sometimes when Neku seemed so adamant about doing the mission for the day at times, often trying to bargain into getting his way. He also mentions at one point while him and Neku are running that he hates sweating. It's not necessarily that he's lazy to the point of doing nothing at all; (that much is kind of obvious, since he's the reason the plot even started) but he just doesn't care to get his hands dirty. Or sweaty, as he told Neku once. He doesn't like getting sweaty.
Even though he does act like that, he's rather intelligent. Not only is he able to plan the Game to try to suit his end of the bargain, but he shows that he's got a good base of knowledge of the real world as well. Though he tends to brag about it, or even be a snob, especially if someone doesn't know the full extent of something that knows about.
Joshua has a pretty strange way of seeing other people. In fact, he doesn't think they can change or learn from their experiences. It was yet another reason why he wanted to get rid of Shibuya -- so it wouldn't "contaminate" anything else further. As much as he talks like he knows people, he doesn't think they can ever be truly understood. It's because of this that when he backs off and decides to spare Shibuya that it's such a big deal. It means that he thinks that he was wrong about his prior thinking, especially since he saw the change in Neku.

Questions:
✽ What does your character consider to be their top three strengths?
Joshua considers himself smart, perceptive and powerful. There's not many people, or any who are able to rival him -- at least enough to actually do anything about it. The only person who was able to pull the wool over his eyes, if only briefly, was Hanekoma.
✽ What do others consider to be your character's greatest weakness?
Most people think he's an ass, honestly. They see that he's smart to the point where he's hella cocky and has a huge ego, which could theoretically be used to his advantage.
✽ What are your character's three greatest fears?
He'd never admit that he has "fears", but given the nature of the reaper's game, two of them might boredom and stagnation. He tried to make a competition to destroy Shibuya out of stagnation of the culture and pure boredom on his part. A third one might possibly be to be lonely -- since he dodges Hanekoma's comment about it at the end of the game.
✽ What would your character choose for a last meal?
Shio Ramen, or something highly expensive and at the cost of someone else, probably.
✽ Has your character ever killed? If so, how did that affect them? If not, how would it affect them?
He definitely killed Neku. It didn't seem to affect him much -- it was planned on his part, so that Neku could be his proxy in the reapers game. He never shows remorse for it.
✽ If your character was given one selfish wish (eg. must be applied to themselves and not affect others), what would it be?
Probably to interact with Neku again, even though he think he may (rightfully) hate him after everything he's done.
